Tamson Hatuikulipi's bail application

Fishrot accused Tamson Hatuikulipi has, through his legal team, brought new facts before the High Court, in the hope of being granted bail. Among the facts, he presented to High Court acting judge David Munsu are that Namibia does not have an extradition treaty with Iceland while there are three Samherji managers listed as suspects in the case who deny any wrongdoing and refuse to come to Namibia to stand trial. Tamson Hatuikulipi also argues that the state has completed its investigation into the multimillion-dollar fraud trial and therefore cannot argue that he will interfere with investigations. Hatuikulipi says that once released on bail, he will accept strict bail conditions set by the court. He also revealed to the court his immovable property is valued at over N$40 million. He further says the trial takes 10-15 years judging from similar cases and also the number of state witnesses which is 342. Hatuikulipi's bail application is underway at the Windhoek High Court.
