A memorial service for the late veteran of the liberation struggle, 83-year-old Tobias Makaya is underway at Okalondo Village in the Otamanzi Constituency, Omusati Region. He has conferred an official funeral and he will be buried later today at Okalondo cemetery. Makaya died on 4 April. He was born on 5 January 1939 at Okalondo Village. Makaya started his political career in 1959 as a member of the Ovambo People's Organisation and joined Swapo in 1960.
