Truck driver dies in head-on collision

A 33-year-old Namibian truck driver has died after succumbing to injuries he sustained in a head-on collision about 95 kilometres south of Otjiwarongo on Friday night. Otjozondjupa police spokesperson, inspector Maureen Mbeha identified the deceased as Jekson Ubu-Kaib. Mbeha said the two trucks collided head-on when one attempted to overtake. Ubu-Kaib was driving from Otjiwarongo to Okahandja. His two passengers survived with serious injuries and are hospitalised in Windhoek. The driver of the other truck, who is aged 41, along with his passenger, also survived. Ubu-Kaib died upon arrival at Okahandja state hospital. His next of kin are informed. In a separate incident, Otjiwarongo Police have opened a murder case after an unidentified man was found dead with a stab wound on the left side of the neck. The body was found at a local bar at 03h00 on Saturday. Police are appealing for anyone with information leading to the arrest, to please come forward, including relatives who might b missing a loved one.
