Two male cattle herders believed to have died due to alleged poisoning at Omakange

Two male cattle herders are believed to have died due to alleged poisoning at Omakange in Omusati Region. It is alleged that the two were part of a group that went to the Omadina location at the Omakange settlement. Omusati Police Regional Crime Investigating Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Moses Simaho says the men spent the night consuming different types of traditional drinks at a shebeen until the early hours of that fateful morning. On their way home, the two men started to complain that they were too tired to walk back home. One of the men fell behind and could not proceed. Later, the second man was also left behind, while the remaining two proceeded to their home to sleep at around 5:00 in the morning. Later that morning, the lifeless body of one of the men was found near a cattle post. After an intensive search by Omusati police, the other man was also found dead near the cattle post. The deceased men have been identified as Pius Akwenye, 23 years old from Ongwiyu village in Angola and Ruben Kefas, a Namibian male of 18 years from the Eputu-Omunyele village in the Outapi constituency. Their next of kin have been informed and police investigations in the matter continue.
