An area of more than 580 000 square kilometers has been gutted by veld fires between May and September this year alone. This was revealed by Environment, Forestry and Tourism Minister, Pohamba Shifeta in the National Assembly (NA), who called on the public to be extra cautious to avoid further damages to the fragile eco-system.
