Police have confirmed the death of Chris Coetzee, a well-known farmer in the Outjo district after his Cessna 172 aircraft crashed on Friday because of low visibility caused by raging fires in the area. The crash left Coetzee with serious injuries and was then hospitalized at Otjiwarongo. The current wildfires sweeping through the Otjozondjupa region is said to have contributed to Coetzee losing control of the aircraft shortly after take-off from his farm.
