Windhoek Mayor Sade Gawa!nas will no longer hold a meeting that will determine the fate of the City’s Management Committee members. Gawa!nas was to chair a vote of no confidence meeting on Friday after Affirmative Repositioning movement councillor Ilse Keister put forward the motion to council. Four IPC councillors through their lawyer requested that the Special Council Meeting be called off citing several loopholes in the Local Authorities Act. There will however still be a meeting at the council chambers, and Gawa!nas has informed the legal representative of IPC councillors. “The meeting scheduled for the 12th of August will take place as per the rules. This said meeting will be scheduled to consider the motion, and hear the parties” “I undertake that no vote in respect of the motion will be taken at this meeting” All members of the Management Committee will be given an opportunity to state their case to the council, says the mayor.
