The Southern African Broadcasting Association and the Aids and Rights Alliance for Southern Africa are looking at possibilities of collaboration in the area of amplifying the message of bodily autonomy and integrity in Southern and Eastern Africa.

This will among others entail the promotion of respecting sexual reproductive health rights and reducing gender inequality.

The Aids and Rights Alliance for Southern Africa, through its bodily autonomy and integrity campaign, aims to promote, respect, and protect the rights of others to decide what happens to their body without external influence.

Some countries are yet to advance in the development of human rights particularly sexual reproductive health rights pertaining to issues such as safe abortion without any victimization or hindrances.

Other issues of concern the campaign aims to address are gender-based violence and advancing rights for discriminated groups.

ARASA's Director Dr. Ntombi Muchuchuti stated that reporting on certain issues from different countries promotes solidarity and speaks for the voiceless.

With the Southern African Broadcasting Association being a potential partner, its broadcasting platforms in the SADC region will amplify the message of bodily autonomy and integrity without any judgment or censoring.

"We want to utilize it to empower the citizens, not in a destructive manner but at least to create awareness and in a preventive manner of sexual violence, gender-based violence, TB, HIV and to ensure full access to reproductive health that they know where to find it and its accessible."

On his part, SABA President Stanley Similo stressed on the importance of respect and content sensitivity based on what the laws of different countries permit.

"As SABA in particular we need to respect the countries where people are operating in, and also meaningfully have regard of the sovereignty of countries as we serve because we wouldn't want to be seen imperialistic in terms of the approach that we are taking, absolutely not. So at the level, we are engaging, this is why I was saying just from program sharing perspective on paper it looks easy, in terms of what we need to do one has to take that sensitivity into account."

" So our job is just to make sure that we share as much and as broad as we can what we want foster among our different nations."
