CENORED has appointed its Network Executive, Gabriel Awaseb, as the acting Chief Executive Officer.
His appointment in an acting capacity follows the resignation of Robert Kahimise, now the new CEO of the Electricity Control Board.
Board Chairperson Moses Matyayi says Awaseb will act for three months while a new CEO is being recruited.
"I am proud to introduce to you our acting CEO. The board has actually sat, and with Mr. Kahimise leaving, of course, there needs to be leadership in the organization. The board has appointed Mr. Awaseb, who is a seasoned executive and has been with the company since its inception. He is the executive of Network, who understands also the electricity supply industry."
Matyayi says the recruitment process for a new CEO is on track and will soon be completed.
"In the financial year of 2021, we actually recorded a profit from the previous year, where we had made a loss of at least $9 million. In 2021, we were able to make a profit of 16.7 million. Just within a year of taking over office, and that is something that we are very proud of. Of course, that is profit after tax. And of course, last year, which was 2022, we were still able to meet a target of making a profit of at least $4 million, and those are definitely areas of our pride to say that with tenure being here, we were able to turn over the fortunes of this company."
The CENORED regional electricity distributor license area covers Otjozondjupa, part of the Oshikoto, Omaheke, and Kunene regions.
