The Sisa Namandje Foundation has stepped in to assist a 12-year-old girl who made headlines earlier this year after being filmed with cut wounds from an alleged beating with a bottle by a caretaker.

Senior Associate at the Foundation, Taimi Iileka-Amupanda, announced that the foundation has placed the girl in school and will continue overseeing her development moving forward.

Iileka-Amupanda said the learner is known to be brilliant and is doing very well in school.

"I think all of you would remember that there was an incident involving a minor child who was being abused by her caretaker, early this year, and the Sisa Namandje Foundation stepped in. We managed to find her a school; previously, she was not enrolled in any school. She is 12 years old, so you can imagine the damage that has been inflicted on her by not having a formal education, and we are pleased to announce that she is enrolled at a school where she is receiving formal education and she is really doing well. The foundation takes care of her other needs, whether educational, health-related, or so on."
