The Kavango West football and netball teams were treated to a heroes welcome at Nkurenkuru after exploits at The Namibian Newspaper cup at Otjiwarongo. Chris Kupulo this report.

Enthusiastic Kavango West residents lineup outside Nkurenkuru early morning to receive the history makers. 

The football trophy, the first for the region, was paraded on the street of the regional capital with songs and dance. 

The soccer team, against all odds, overcame the hosts Otjizondjupa Region to lift the trophy.

The regions' netball team did not disappoint either, after reaching the semifinal stage for the first time. 

Kavango West Governor Sirkka Ausiku thanked the players for making the region proud.
