Namibia Wildlife Resorts (NWR) has launched a school garden programme at Oshekasheka Combined School in the Oshana Region.

NWR has committed to setting up gardens at schools across the country to supplement the government's school feeding programme with vegetables and fruits.

An amount of N$500,000 has been set aside for this course at selected schools, and the intention is to cover 14 schools countrywide in the next eight months.

NWR plans to double the number of schools in the next financial year, targeting mostly schools with a high number of orphans and vulnerable learners.

The pilot project was launched at Oshekasheka Combined School, where the school garden was assisted with fertiliser, seeds, gardening tools, and a water tank for irrigation.

Oshekasheka Combines School has a population of 986 learners from grades zero to nine and was established in 1968.
