A public lecture in commemoration of the African Union's 60th anniversary will be held at UNAM's Hage Geingob campus in Windhoek this afternoon.

The commemoration is celebrated under the theme 'Our Africa, Our Future'.

The African Group of Ambassadors residing in Namibia and the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation are hosting the panel discussion on the history, present, and vision of the African Union.

Deputy Prime Minister Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah will deliver the keynote address.

The panellists include Ambassador Wilfried Emvula, the chairperson of the Africa Peer Review Mechanisms; Dr. Joseph Ndinoshiho, a librarian at UNAM; economist Dr. John Steytler; and Adauche Okore, a UNAM law student.

Nandi-Ndaitwah yesterday said the continent must ensure it attains its developmental objectives as set out in Agenda 2063.

She says Africa's common desire is for shared prosperity and well-being, unity and integration, free citizens, and expanded horizons.
