The search for pre-primary placements in Windhoek is becoming more intense, as schools have only a limited number of spaces available for new enrollments.

Since the start of this month, parents have been camping overnight at schools to secure a spot for their children.

During this time of the year, the competition for school placements becomes intense, with parents lining up every morning at the schools.

Recently, concerned parents contacted the nbc regarding Van Rhyn Primary School.

Despite being informed by the school management that all 200 available places for the academic year 2023 have been filled, they remained hopeful of obtaining application forms for the pre-primary level.

The management assigned numbers from one to 200 and distributed them to parents on a first-come, first-served basis.

However, they discovered that the forms had already run out.

This process was not exclusive to Van Rhyn Primary School, as parents are also vying for limited placements in other primary schools.

The demand for application forms was so high that a long queue formed, and only 200 parents received the forms.
Consequently, some parents who were unable to obtain forms were left disappointed, which was quite heartbreaking considering that some of them had spent the night at the school gate.

According to Principal Royno Gentz of Van Rhyn Primary School, they had a limited number of 200 application forms available, corresponding to the number of students they can accommodate.

Gentz says that a report was given to the higher level of management about the issue, and the way forward will be communicated.
