The manager at Sandune Game Lodge, Hendrik Niemandt, has called on residents of the Omaheke Region to capitalise on opportunities arising from tourism and hunting activities.

Niemandt believes that taking advantage of such opportunities will not only contribute to the regional economy but also improve the livelihoods of the inhabitants, while also boosting the agricultural sector, among others.

Niemandt says the lodge's leadership spent over N$50 million on setting up infrastructure with the aim of assisting the country's economy through tourism-related activities.

He added that despite challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic, the industry continues to ensure that visitors bring foreign currency into the country.

Niemandt called on officials at airports and other entry points into the country to ensure that travellers are attended to on time to avoid delays.

The game lodge employs 32 locals.
