Over the past week, surfers from around the globe flocked to the Skeleton Coast at Donkey Bay, located just outside Walvis Bay, to catch what is believed to be the world's finest barrel wave.

The Skeleton Bay surf spot is considered the longest sand-bottomed left hand wave in the world and only came into the surf world’s radar back in 2008, when Surfing Magazine ran the Google Earth Challenge.

The wave at Donkey Bay is a true marvel of the surfing world, and this year once again attracted surfers and surfing world champions from all over the world.

With the possibility of scoring mile-long rides of perfect barreling waves, this is the kind of surf that surfers fantasise about.

The experience of riding this wave is characterised by its impressive speed and forcefulness, and can extend for multiple minutes, putting a surfer's stamina and proficiency to the ultimate challenge.

Surfers can really maximise their wave riding experience by catching the waves during low tide.

This is then the perfect time since the waves are at their longest and fastest, giving them the opportunity to enjoy a thrilling and extended ride.

The wave only comes along during the winter months, when the wave is at its biggest and most consistent, providing the perfect conditions for an epic ride.

" It is amazing when wave are so good Completely live in the entire week like the run of good style at the moment being here" said Phillip Seidler a Namibian Surfer.

Surfers also shared their thoughts and experiences of riding the globally acclaimed Donkey Bay barrel.

"This morning there was best wave probably that is even for first in life was quite enjoyable it is amazing live in Namibia stay tune and stay safe join fun wave" Surfers said

Kelly Slater, the acclaimed eleven time world champ, recently made his inaugural trip to Namibia.
