The Namibia Rugby Union made an announcement on Monday regarding the selection of their squad for the upcoming 2023 Rugby World Cup.

As the highly anticipated 2023 Rugby World Cup approaches in a mere three weeks, the Namibia Rugby Union officially unveiled their final roster to represent the nation at this prestigious tournament, marking their seventh consecutive participation.

In terms of forwards, those included in the squad are: Jason Benade, Adriaan Booysen, Aranos Coetzee, Wian Conradie, Tiaan de Klerk, Prince !Gaoseb, Richard Hardwick, Max Katjijeko, Adriaan Ludick, Johan Retief, Desiderius Sethie, Mahepisa Tjeriko, Tjiuee Uanivi, Louis v/d Westhuizen, Torsten van Jaarsveld, PJ Van Lill as well as Casper Viviers.

Additionally mentioned by the NRU President is that two forwards have yet to be announced due to pending medical clearance and finalization of official documents.

Meanwhile,the backline boasts a harmonious blend of youthful talent and seasoned experience with players such as: Oela Blaauw,Danco Burger,Johan Deysel ,JC Greyling ,Cliven Loubser ,Le Roux Malan,Gerswin Mouton Chad Plato ,Alcino Isaacs ,Divan Rossouw,Damian Stevens,Tiaan Swanepoel,Jacques Theron and Andre van der Berg.

Leading Namibia into battle will be captain Johan Deysel accompanied by vice-captain Torsten van Jaarsveld - both individuals possessing substantial experience. “I have had the privilege of working closely with these two gentlemen and I am immensely gratified by their ability to maintain team cohesion while simultaneously delivering exceptional individual performances," expressed Allister Coetzee,Namibia’s head coach.

Coetzee further noted the absence of notable players such as TC Kisting, Adriaan Rademeyer, and JC Nel, among others.

Meanwhile, Coetzee offered a concise update to the media regarding his expectations and objectives for the team. "The tour to South America held immense significance in our pursuit of these aspirations. Our primary aim is to secure victory in two matches during the World Cup; that is what we are diligently working towards," he added.

To provide additional game time prior to the World Cup, several of these national team members will be participating against the Blue Bulls over the weekend.
