It has been remarked that Jacob's appointment as the Head Coach of Matebele Football Club in the Botswana Premier League is seen as a stepping stone for Namibian coaches and players. These comments were made by panelists on last week's NBC Sport magazine show, Soccer Pitch.
Jacob's new role with Matebele Football Club places him among the few local coaches who have had the opportunity to manage teams outside of Namibia. Sport Analyst Isack Hamata, who shares a close connection with Kukatsu's new boss, expressed his satisfaction with this new chapter in football and wished Jacob success during his tenure in Botswana.
"Please do not disappoint me; go out there and represent us well. Avoid unnecessary conflicts and bring Namibia into the spotlight. Make sure other teams recognize our country and let people know where you come from," stated Hamata, Sports Analyst.
Nelson Shipandeni, Head Coach of Amazon Football Academy, expressed admiration for Jacob's work and emphasized how his appointment will greatly benefit Namibian football by providing players with valuable opportunities.
"He has set an example, and I am certain many coaches aspire to follow in his footsteps. It is not only players who can seek greener pastures beyond our borders but also coaches. Being one of the firsts, he certainly won't be the last," commented Shipandeni.
Sport Journalist Hesron Kapanga highlighted that Jacobs' experience coaching both Brave Gladiators and Warriors will aid in his transition to Botswana. He commended Jacobs for making this move abroad and believes it will inspire local coaches to pursue similar paths.
"In South Africa, we are aware of someone who continuously goes back to Sundowns; he ventured into Africa which opened doors for others. He serves as a permanent teacher receiving a salary but chose coaching because he wants to achieve something and set goals," shared Kapanga, Sport Journalist.
While praising Jacobs' coaching abilities, the panelists also urged him to work diligently and continue doing an excellent job in his new role.
