The just-ended two-day high-level private sector engagement culminated in the establishment of a mechanism for regular dialogue between the private sector and government.

The interaction mechanism is aimed at facilitating the exchange of ideas, fostering joint initiatives, and monitoring progress towards the UN's sustainable development goals. The engagement featured insightful discussions, and the participants expressed their commitment to forging stronger partnerships for inclusive and sustainable development. UNDP Resident Representative Alka Bhatia emphasized the important role the private sector plays in the transformation of the economy.

"This is the first time the private sector has now agreed to take the lead in initiating this dialogue and establishing a platform for doing so, because there is a realization that unless the private sector comes together and leads itself, the statue's core will be maintained. We are looking forward to seeing the continued and regular dialogue between the private sector and public sector around sustainable development and economic growth."

The dialogue was led by the Ministry of Trade and Industrialization and the UNDP country office.

The meeting was aimed at promoting inclusive and sustainable development in Namibia and fostering partnerships between the private sector and the government.
