As festivities kick off at the Okakarara Trade Fair, the police say they are ready to maintain law and order.

An estimated 10,000 people are expected to visit the show.

In a statement issued by the Regional Commander, Commissioner Heinrich Tjiveze, teams have been set up to ensure safety for all.

The teams have been deployed on patrols and roadblocks for increased visibility and crime prevention.

Commissioner Tjiveze cautioned road users to observe traffic rules and regulations, especially when using gravel routes, as there are construction works between Okakarara, Coblenz, and Okondjatu.

He reminded motorists to have their headlamps switched on at all times due to dust.

The public is further urged to report any suspicious movements, while police warn that no drinking while walking along the streets will be tolerated.

Bar owners have also been warned to comply with the Liquor Act.

The show ends on the 10th of this month.
