The National Organisation of Youth with Disabilities (NOYD) is struggling with its operations after donors withdrew their support.

Last year, the National Organisation of Youth with Disabilities elected disability coordinators for all regions.

They are tasked with taking up disability matters at the regional level.

The organisation is, however, finding it difficult to operate optimally because of limited funds after the donors pulled out.

With a thin budget or nothing at all, the Disability Coordinator of the Otjozondjupa Region, Melody Katjivandje, a wheelchair user, is finding mobility difficult, and as of now, her movement in and out of the office to hold meetings is limited.

Katjivandje said it would be helpful if she had an electrical wheelchair; unfortunately, she cannot afford one as they cost between N$25,000 to N$30,000.

Her efforts to get assistance from various offices did not yield any results.

Overall, the National Organisation of Youth with Disabilities needs assistance to be able to reach out to the target group.
