The Council of Southern African Football Associations (COSAFA) is organizing an annual football tournament, featuring teams from Southern Africa. This championship, which will be divided into three pools - A, B, and C, will serve as the second round of qualifiers for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Taking place in South Africa, the tournament will see twelve countries competing for a spot in the Olympics.
Ensuring the smooth running of the event will be Katrina Gowases, an experienced broadcaster with over two decades of experience at the nbc. Gowases will oversee the orderly conduct of club members and spectators, assist the match delegate in addressing any issues, and provide essential reports for committee activities.
During an interview on the nbc's "Good Morning Namibia" program, Gowases expressed her pride in representing Namibia. Her recommendation as part of the delegates came from the COSAFA Media Manager. Apart from her journalistic work, Gowases also serves on the board of a basketball artist school organization in Katutura. She is scheduled to depart for Johannesburg in the first week of October for the championship.
"This has been a long journey, especially for Female SportsJournalist who are few in this country having been given this opportunity to cover a sports competition at this magnitude is really a great honor for me to represent Namibia representing NBC and the Sports Desk."
Gowases shared her story that led to her recommendation by the COSAFA Media Manager to be part of the delegates.
"Once you produce and cover COSAFA games and women in sports games you are at their database. On Tuesday I got a call from Media Management of COSAFA she told me this is your lucky day, I actually missed her call on WhatsUp and I called her back I asked Linda where you looking for me and she responded "This is one of your lucky days. You have been recommended to be one of the five special guests of HoolywoodBets COSAFA Women AFCON which will start on the 5th till the 15th of next month in Johannesburg "
