Several states in Nigeria are having discussions with Namibia's Meat Corporation about possible collaboration in husbandry and meat exports.

Namibia's record of being among the few to export its beef to the European Union and the first African country to do so to the US has inspired Nigeria's livestock producers.

Talks between the stakeholders started as early as 2019 as Nigerian producers wanted to upgrade ranching and processing facilities to international standards, benchmarked from Namibia.

The west African country has an estimated 19 million heads of cattle and its outgoing High Commissioner is optimistic about the work done so far.

Some of the challenges which hindered the finalisation of talks include the provision of consular services on both sides.

High Commissioner Tarzoor says together with Namibian counterpart, Humphrey !Geiseb, these challenges are being addressed.

Dr. Tarzoor was speaking to nbc news following a farewell courtesy call on President Hage Geingob as he ends his two-year tour of diplomatic duty to Namibia.
