The residents of the Germany Informal Settlement at Kahenge Village in Kavango West are calling on the town council to resolve a conflict among residents sharing neighbouring plots.

The neighbours have been embroiled in a standoff after the council surveyed and demarcated plots, leaving some unhappy as others built structures in their yards.

The community says four years ago, the town council requested they move from their residences near the river to land opposite the road after they indicated they could not afford the small-scale houses the council had intended to build for them.

The Deputy Mayor of Nkurenkuru, Fani Kaundu, explained that the council did not have enough money to compensate everyone at once.

The deputy mayor urges the residents of Germany to work together with the town planner and also follow the right procedure.
