The popular PSTBET Samora Machel League, catering to 20 teams in the informal settlements of the capital, recently concluded its activities for the year with an awards ceremony.

The event aimed to recognize outstanding performances throughout the season and honour those who excelled in the league.

League officials and sponsors spoke highly of the transformative impact the PSTBET Samora Machel League has had on the youth in the informal settlements.

The league, which began in September of the previous year, has provided a platform for young players to showcase their talent and has contributed to their personal development in various ways.

The arrival of PSTBET as a sponsor has brought increased support and added vibrancy to the league.

The betting company's sponsorship has provided additional resources for the participating teams, further enhancing the overall experience for players and fans.

During the awards ceremony, players from the league champions, S1B Football Club, dominated the honors.

Their exceptional performance throughout the season earned them the top position and a prize of 700,000 Namibian dollars.

Lions, securing second place, received 600,000 Namibian dollars, while third-place finishers United Boys were awarded 500,000 Namibian dollars.

Even teams finishing in fourth and fifth place, Tura United and Hakahana Magic, respectively, did not go home empty-handed.

They were presented with 400,000 and 300,000 Namibian dollars respectively, as a recognition of their efforts.

In the individuals category, Mzwadile Mento Shawn Zuai of S1B Football Club scooped the prestigious Best Player of the Season accolade.

Elkana Kandume of C-Doff and Johanes Fecsa, both from S1B Football Club, were recognized as the Coach of the Season and Best Goalkeeper of the Season, respectively.

The Top Goal Scorer Award went to Roman Somaeb of Eleven Bullets, who impressively found the back of the net 25 times during the 2023 season.
