In a deeply saddening discovery, the body of a baby girl, estimated to be between seven and nine months old, was found abandoned next to a municipality skip container on Etetewe Street, near the open market in Windhoek's Hakahana Residential area, yesterday.
One of the witnesses, Victoria Marcus, who stays nearby, said she was told by a man who was searching in the dustbin that there was a baby thrown away.
Brown Nowaseb, who was also there, said the baby was found covered in white jeans and a box.
Nowaseb said the baby was also stuffed with a newspaper in their mouth.
The police say that the suspect involved in this distressing incident remains unidentified.
Inspector Raimbert Muronga indicated that they are considering opening a case that may involve charges of murder and violation of a dead body.
