After 14 attempts, Orlando Pirates finally secured a 1-0 victory against Civics on Match day 15 of the Debmarine Namibia Premiership.

However, the club's interim coach, Costa Khaiseb, downplayed the significance of the win, emphasizing that it did little to improve their relegation struggles.

Once a dominant force in Namibian football, Orlando Pirates has experienced a decline in recent years, with their former glory becoming a distant memory.

The 2023/24 Debmarine Namibia Premiership season has been particularly challenging for the team, as they currently sit at the bottom of the league with only 2 wins, 2 draws, and 11 losses, accumulating a mere 8 points out of a possible 45.

Ali Akan began the season as the team's coach but was dismissed after consecutive defeats that left the Katutura giants at the bottom of the standings.

Now, Costa Khaiseb has taken charge, aiming to turn the club's fortunes around in the domestic campaign.

In their most recent match against Civics, Orlando Pirates secured their second victory of the season after 14 attempts, thanks to a goal from Wesley Bongani.

However, Khaiseb stated that while the win provided hope, it did not have a significant impact on their season revival, emphasizing that there is still much work to be done.

Khaiseb also mentioned that he has identified key positions that need strengthening during the Christmas break in the season.

Despite talks of potentially losing his job, his main focus remains on restoring Orlando Pirates to their former glory.
