Ondangwa residents described the late President Dr. Hage Geingob as a great leader and unifier who made significant contributions to Namibia and the world at large.

Some pronounced him a man of good character, a trustworthy person, and a hardworking, peace-loving man.

The residents made these remarks during the candle-lighting ceremony in honour of the late President, which was organised by the Ondangwa Town Council at Andimba Toivo ya Toivo Secondary School's sports field.

Speaker after speaker, among them the Association of Local Authorities in Namibia (ALAN), acknowledged the impact Geingob had on all national policies.

They appreciated the holistic and fundamental organisational changes he made across all pillars of sustainable development.

"We join everyone in mourning for a man of inclusivity, Mr. Harambee Prosperity Plan, the person of transparency, the promoter of freedom of the press. We believe he was one of the best leaders we had for our country."

ALAN Board member Naemi Amuthenu says Geingob's kind-hearted nature and exceptional leadership skills will be greatly missed by all.

She says they will build on his legacy to ensure effective service delivery to the people.

Ondangwa Mayor Paavo Amwele says Geingob was a distinguished servant of the people, a liberation struggle icon, the chief architect of the Namibian Constitution, and the pillar of the Namibian house.

"He was a vibrant statesman, a world leader, and a man of all people who believed and worked tirelessly to build one Namibian house for all Namibian people.

Oshana Governor Elia Irimari hailed Geingob as a man of integrity, compassion, and an unwavering dedication to the betterment of the Namibian nation.

"His leadership skills were evident in his tireless efforts to promote unity, equality, and social justice. He worked relentlessly to uplift the lives of all Namibians, especially those who were marginalised and disadvantaged."

Andimba Toivo ya Toivo Secondary School and Ondangwa choirs paid their tributes with songs.
