The late President Hage Geingob has been praised for supporting labour matters at a memorial service held in his honour by the Ministry of Labour, Industrial Relations, and Employment Creation.

Dr. Geingob, they say, contributed immensely to labour matters, such as the minimum wage for domestic workers in the Harembee Prosperity Plan II.

"He assumed office in 2019 by declaring that no Namibian should feel left out, and his priorities were to tackle social and economic disparities that exist in Namibia and poverty enequalities."

Advisor to the Minister of Labour, Industrial Relations, and Employment Creation, Vicki ya Toivo, says the late President was an extraordinary human being.

"He understood the importance of showing up for the people. When he heard that my husband was critically ill, he rushed to our house. He was one of the people who stood there and watched as doctors tried to revive him. Our president was an extraordinary human being, and we should all try to emulate him."

Employees at the ministry also paid tribute to the president.

"The seed that has sprouted and has borne fruit we only see upon his death, Lover of the People, and you truly showed that you were elected by the people."
