The Omaheke Athletics Association is a beacon of hope for aspiring athletes in the region, revitalizing sports participation in an area where it has historically lagged.

Established in 2023 as the rebranded Gobabis Athletics Club, the Association's primary goal is to organize sporting events, identify talented athletes, and nurture their potential. Led by Chairperson Mervin Tuaire and Secretary Zelda Katjingisiua, the Association has been affiliated with Athletics Namibia since the start of the year, providing valuable opportunities for athletes to showcase their skills.

A recent triumph for the Association was securing first place in the 400m relay during the 5th leg of the Athletics Grandprix sanctioned by Athletics Namibia. This achievement has reignited interest and enthusiasm for athletics in the region.

Despite their successes, funding remains a significant obstacle for the club, prompting officials to appeal for sponsorship and support from the community and businesses.

Representing Otjinene and Gobabis constituencies, the athletes are eager to expand their reach to other areas within the region, aiming to inspire and engage more individuals in the pursuit of athletic excellence.
