In our report on the groundbreaking ceremony for the Windhoek District Hospital, we erroneously reported that the construction of the hospital will be done at a cost of N$16 billion.
In fact, the budget for the Windhoek District Hospital is N$2.9 billion. The N$16 billion we quoted yesterday is for the resources required for the health system strengthening initiative by the Ministry of Health and Social Services, which covers several aspects such as infrastructure, equipment, ambulances, human resources, pharmaceuticals, and clinical supplies.
The hospital is expected to be constructed in Windhoek's Havana Informal Settlements at Farm 108 and will host 500 beds, a mental health section, surgery, maternity facilities, staff accommodations, and recreational facilities, among others.
The hospital will relieve the health care burden on Katutura Intermediate Hospital and Windhoek Central Hospital in terms of health service delivery and referrals.
We would like to apologise for any inconvenience the report may have caused all stakeholders.
