More than N$160,000 was raised during a fund-raising dinner for the construction of a hall at Faustinis Haididira Combined School in the Kavango East Region.

The school, established in 1958 by the Roman Catholic Church in Namibia, was first known as Kayengona and was approved to be renamed Faustinus Haididira in October 2023.

Its principal, Anna Mateya, says the school is fortunate to have electricity, water, internet connectivity, and proper access roads.

The Director of Education in the Kavango East Region, Christine Shilima, advised schools to have fundraising activities for the development of the school.

The school's patron and Deputy Prime Minister, John Mutorwa, called on parents to participate in their children's education.

The school has 623 learners.
