Police in the Kharas Region have received 95,500  Namibia dollar to host the 27th edition of the Namibian Police Force Annual Sport Championships this year, at Keetmanshoop.

David Shikongo, Retail Operations Manager at FNB, and Commissioner Marius Katamila of the Namibian Police Force (NAMPOL), spoke at the sponsorship handover ceremony.

Shikongo said the financial contribution is a symbol of the bank's shared commitment to promoting sportsmanship, healthy living, and the invaluable role of law enforcement in society.

"In supporting these sports games, we are providing a platform for police officers to engage in physical activity, build stronger bonds, showcase their talents outside their demanding roles, and just to enjoy themselves"Shikongo said.

Commissioner Katamila expressed his gratitude to FNB Namibia for coming on board to sponsor the annual sport competition'' he said.

"When we hold sports championships of this magnitude, it attracts a lot of financial and administrative challenges."

This year's competition is themed "Suide Maak Vrede," an Afrikaans expression translated as "South Makes Peace."

It is scheduled for the 24th to the 27th of June.
