Construction work on the new Cricket Stadium, to be known as the Namibia Cricket Ground, is progressing well. The new cricket stadium will be located at the corner of Netball and Lichtensteinstrasse, next to the Dr. Hage Geingob Rugby Stadium.

Since the official ground-breaking ceremony took place on March 20th, the project continues to make progress both on and off the field.

While the playing pitches are taking shape, there's still more work to be done to complete the other parts of the stadium.

According to Chief Executive Officer of Cricket Namibia, Johan Muller, the most significant aspect of the project is that they have begun construction of the office building.

The upper level of the stadium will be called the High Performance Oval and will host a variety of activities.

Muller added that the most important thing for Cricket Namibia as a sporting organization is not just to talk about development but to invest in infrastructure.

Namibia will co-host the 2027, 50 overs World Cup with South Africa and Zimbabwe and this stadium is expected to be operational by August 2025.
