The karate championships, coaches and karatekas from various countries who competed in the competition reflected on their experiences.

With South Africa dominating the competition to maintain the top spot, coach Njabulo Khumalo explained that he ensured his team didn't lose sight of their primary mission of being formidable. Namibian coach Devet Moolman explained that despite his karatekas improving from last year, he believed they could have performed better.

Botswana were the most vocal team on the stands. Their team spirit appeared to have motivated their athletes on the floor. Team Botswana's coach, Eileen Alberts, was happy to see Botswana perform beyond expectations at this major competition.

The karatekas are now gearing up for the next Region 5 championship set for Botswana.
