Residents of DRC who spoke to the NBC Sport team expressed their gratitude toward the municipality for centralizing the sports facility within their vicinity. They also urged the public at large to assist with further development of the field.

Deputy Mayor of Swakopmund, David Makasa, stated that the field has added to the scenery of the settlement and stressed the importance for town councils to give back to the community.

Chairperson of Swakopmund Municipality, Bennett Khaibeb, took us through the history of the project and explained how it came about.

Chief Administrator of the Namibia Sport Commission, Freddy Mwiya, visited the sports field and expressed satisfaction with the progress being made. Mwiya urged other municipalities to follow Swakopmund's example as it would be crucial for hosting national championships.

The sports field, situated in the heart of the DRC informal settlement in Swakopmund, features a football field and a netball court. The next phase of its development will include adding an athletics track.
