A group of Covid-19 vaccine cynics lost their High Court attempt to compel the government to disclose detailed information on the safety and efficacy of Covid-19 vaccines.
The Health Defence League (HDL) and four members, Monika Ruppel, Manfred Förtsch, Werner Gertz, and Paul du Plessis, sought an order for Health Minister Kalumbi Shangula to provide information on vaccine safety, efficacy, and adverse effects.
They also aimed to invalidate indemnification forms signed before vaccination and challenge the legality of administering the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine in Namibia.
High Court Deputy Judge President Hosea Angula dismissed their application, upholding the respondents' preliminary point of concern on the issue of legal standing.
The court found that the HDL had not properly authorised the legal action in its name.
The court ordered the applicants to pay the respondents' legal costs, and the case was removed from the roll.
The respondents included the Health Minister, the Minister of Basic Education, Arts, and Culture, the Attorney General, the President of Namibia, the Namibia Medicines Regulatory Council, and the Government of Namibia.
