Comoros' impressive run at the 2024 Hollywoodbets Cosafa Cup scripted a new chapter after defeating 7 time champions Zambia by 2 goals to 1 at the "" Stadium in South Africa.

Meanwhile, Kenya eliminated Zimbabwe from the Cosafa Cup with a 2 nil victory. Despite starting their group stage campaign with a defeat against Zimbabwe, Comoros resurgence was replicated by a 1 -0 win at the hands of  a struggling Zambian side. Ibroihim Djoudja got of the mark for Comoros in the 61st minute to add more misery to the 7 time regional champions.

That goal was enough for the underdogs to book their spot in the Cosafa Cup semi-finals. Comoros coach Ahamada Jambay congratulated his team for reaching the semi-final for the first time.

Zambian Coach Chisi Mbewe expressed frustration over his team's overall participation stating that they looked a shadow of their former self. In another group B clash, Kenya and Zimbabwe who marked their return to international football at this year's Cosafa Cup 23rd edition met for a decisive encounter.

Zimbabwe who started the day on top of the standings were sent packing by Austin Ottieno and Benson Omala's well taken goals either side of half-time. Here is how the coaches summed up their final group stage run. Both Comoros, Kenya and Zimbabwe ended the group stage with 6 points. According to the Cosafa Cup semi-qualification rule, Should two or more teams finish on the same number of points in the pool phase, they will be separated by the result of their head-to-head meetings in the first instance.

If this does not provide a conclusion, the next criteria will be goal difference resulting from the group matches between the teams concerned and then greater number of goals scored in all the group matches between the teams concerned.

Based on that, Comoros have qualified with a positive 1 goal difference, Kenya ended on second with a goal difference of 0 while Zimbabwe was eliminated with a negative goal difference.

Kenya's chances of emerging as the best group stage runners up will be decided tomorrow when group C conclude the group stage encounters.
