The remains of the late former Erongo Governor, Cleophas Mutjavikua, have been reburied at his home village at Ongongoro in the Okakarara Constituency.

Mutjavikua died in 2021 and was accorded an official funeral.

The remains were exhumed at Grootfontien Cemetery.

His traditional tombstone unveiling ceremony was conducted along with that of his mother and elder brother. 

Otjozondjupa Governor James Uerikua represented the head of state, Nangolo Mbumba.

At the time, Mutjavikua, who died from COVID-19 complications, was buried under stringent protocols, as were others.

Mutjavikua, who died at the age of 56, served as the Erongo Governor for 10 years before stepping down in 2020. 

He is survived by his wife and six children.
