The FNB Women Super League Champions, Ongos Ladies, will once again taste continental football as they are scheduled to represent Namibia at the Confederation of African Football Women Champions League COSAFA qualifiers in Malawi set for August.
The Ongos Ladies team had their first stint in continental football in 2021 under their previous name Tura Magic, where they lost two of their games to the Green Buffaloes from Zambia and Black Rhino Queens of Zimbabwe.
In 2023, the team missed out on a chance to compete in the competition due to the Namibia Football Association failing to register the team on time. This year, Ongos Ladies' chairperson confirmed that the team will compete in the COSAFA tournament qualifiers, and plans are well underway to participate against Southern Africa's best in women's football .The COSAFA qualifier tournament is being utilized as the qualifying tournament for the CAF Champions League, set later in the year. Ongos Ladies join South Africa's University of the Western Cape, 2022 champions Green Buffaloes, Young Buffaloes from Eswatini, Ascent Soccer Academy, Herentals Queens, debutants Gaborone United, and Mozambique's Uniao Desportiva de Lichinga at the COSAFA qualifying tournament.
