FC Ongos Ladies, Namibia's Super League champions, will face a challenging group in their quest to qualify for the CAF Women's Champions League.
The draw for the COSAFA qualifiers was held on July 24 at CAF headquarters in Cairo, Egypt.
The preliminary qualifying phase begins on August 15th to the 24th , with Ongos Ladies aiming to reach the final phase of the 2024 tournament.
This phase will see eight teams competing to reach continental showpiece.
Drawn into Group A, Ongos Ladies will face stiff competitionfrom University of the Western Cape in South Africa, Green Buffaloes and Reigning 2022 Champions from Zambia as well as Zimbabwe's Herental Queens.
Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies from South Africa have already secured an automatic qualifying spot for the CAF Champions League.
The winner of the COSAFA qualifiers will join them as the second team representing the Southern African region.
Eliaser Amuthitu, Assistant Coach of FC Ongos Ladies, acknowledged the group's difficulty while remaining optimistic.
Amuthitu expressed excitement about the draw, especially facing Green Buffaloes again, a team they met in the last championship whcih they lost 1 goal to 0.
