The late Reverend Gert Johannes Kooper from the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church was buried at Mariental, Hardap Region, over the weekend.

Reverend Kooper died on July 13th, at the age of 61.

He was described as a formidable name, not just in the AME Church but the country's clergy as a whole.

Senior government officials, and traditional leaders from clergy from different church denominations, attended his funeral.

Kooper was described as a man of principle who was a natural leader within the AME church and the communities of Mariental, Gibeon, and the rest of the southern regions.

He was buried at the Mariental Town Cemetery on Sunday and is survived by his wife and 10 children.
