The Standard Bank hockey initiative is proud to announce the send-off of their junior U/13 boys' and girls' teams to Zimbabwe.

These young athletes are set to represent Namibia in an upcoming tournament.

The School of Excellence, in collaboration with the Ministry of Sport, Youth, and National Service, the Sports Commission, the Namibia Hockey Union, the NSSU, and its sponsor Standard Bank, has been developing hockey in Namibia since 2021.

The game of hockey is now played in all sixteen towns representing the fourteen regions of the Namibia.

Over the past four years, about 1,500 students and 140 coaches have become part of the program.

At the 2023 national tournament, a U/13 boys' and girls' team was selected to travel to Harare to play against Zambia and the host Zimbabwe from 8-11 August 2024.

We caught up with some of the coaches to share their insights on their teams' participation in Zimbabwe.

This is what the junior players feel about representing their country at a national level.

The teams are excited and ready to showcase their skills and fair play on an international stage, hoping to make Namibia proud.
