Namibia's football fraternity is in mourning following the untimely passing of legendary player and coach, Fillemon "Kaskas" Angula, on the 5th of August. 

Angula, a revered figure in Namibian soccer, leaves behind an indelible mark on the nation's football landscape.

Born on August 20, 1974, in Swakopmund, Angula's journey to becoming a football icon was marked by resilience and determination. 

His early years were spent in exile in Zambia and in Loudima in Congo Brazzaville during the Namibiaa struggle for liberation. Upon returning to his homeland, he ignited a passion for football that would define his life.

Angula's football career took root in his youth, where he showcased exceptional talent on the local pitches. 

His journey led him to represent various clubs, including Volcano United, Young Chiefs, Oshakati City, Blue Waters, and Civics. 

A highlight of his playing career was his call-up to the national team in 1997, where his linguistic abilities in Nyanja and French earned him recognition beyond Namibia's borders.

Beyond his playing skills, Angula's impact extended to coaching. 

He guided the Oshana Regional team to a gold medal and held coaching roles at Ongwediva City and Young Chiefs. His dedication to nurturing young talent was evident in his pursuit of a coaching C-license.

Angula's passing is a profound loss for Namibian football. His contributions as a player and coach have inspired generations of footballers. 

The nation mourns the departure of a true legend whose spirit will continue to live on through the beautiful game.

Fillemon "Kaskas" Angula is survived by four siblings, five children, and one grandchild. 

Funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.
