Jessica Blaauw, the African Champion in trampoline gymnastics, recently made a notable appearance at the qualifying competition held in Walvis Bay. 

Her performance reaffirmed her status as a leading gymnast.

The second qualifier competition attracted enthusiastic participants from four clubs across the country. 

This event played a crucial role in determining eligibility and awards for the National Championships scheduled for October this year.

2024 marks the first year that gymnasts have been able to compete freely after a two-year suspension from international competitions.

Jessica Blaauw, the reigning African Champion, also competed in the event.

Blaauw represents the Walvis Bay Gymnastics Club and has demonstrated remarkable dedication and passion for her sport.

Earlier this year, Blaauw was crowned African Champion in trampoline in Tunisia and earned a silver medal in synchronised trampoline with partner Hannah Duinaski.

In an interview, Blaauw reflected on her experience of becoming the African Champion.

Monica Bohm, an EXCO member of the NGF, highlighted how having an African Champion like Blaauw positively influences other participating gymnasts.

Looking ahead, the Region 5 Gymnastics Championships will take place in December in Harare, Zimbabwe. 

This international event will offer gymnasts aged nine and older the chance to showcase their skills on a regional stage.
