SADC leaders have called for a coordinated regional response to contain the spread of Mpox.
The 44th Ordinary Summit of the bloc has since directed the Secretariat to convene an urgent meeting with the Ministers of Health in the region.
The communiqué issued by the summit stated that the meeting would assess the impact of Mpox.
It would further facilitate a regional response to contain the spread of the disease.
SADC countries have also been urged to strengthen their disease surveillance, diagnosis testing, and clinical care.
The World Health Organisation recently declared Mpox a public health emergency of international concern.
