The Brigadier General of the Green Flag, under the Ovambanderu Traditional Council, Tjiuatu Kandjou, has called on women and young girls to take an interest in knowing their traditions and cultural norms.

Speaking at the 104th annual commemoration of the Ovambanderu at Okeseta, Kandjou emphasised that it was high time young women familiarised themselves with cultural activities.

This, he said, would help them to stay away from illegal activities and become productive members of society.

Mbakumua Hengari from the Okandjoze Chief Assembly highlighted the significance of working together in the preservation of culture.

This annual Okeseta commemoration was held under the theme 'Celebrating women in leadership and cultural preservation'.
