China's Ambassador to Namibia says he does not agree with the view that China provides developmental assistance to African countries in favour of getting its hands on its mineral resources.

Ambassador Zhao Weiping said this while emphasising the win-win cooperation between Africa and China.

"We provide development assistance to our African friends because we are the largest developing country and the second largest economy in the world. So we just think it's something we should do to help our African friends. We never attach any political conditions to our assistance, and we never use our assistance to seek any special favour in return. So this summit, I think has, of course, reflected the win-win spirit. But for me, more importantly, I think it is also reflected in China, Africa, friendship, and we all belong to the global south, and the global south countries should help each other to boost our overall position in international politics."
