The former Regional Executive Committee member of the Swapo Party Youth League in the Erongo Region, Reinhold Shipwikineni, could lose his properties if he fails to pay N$400,000 in legal costs within 10 days following a High Court ruling.

The case, involving an urgent application he and others brought against the Swapo Party of Namibia, was dismissed with costs on October 14, 2024.

Swapo’s legal team, led by Sisa Namandje, has already prepared a Bill of Costs and warned that if Shipwikineni does not settle, they will proceed to seize his assets.

The case, which was brought by Shipwikineni and four other applicants, sought relief against the Swapo Party and 13 other respondents. However, the court found the application improperly constituted and frivolous, ultimately dismissing it with costs. Shipwikineni now faces an estimated N$490,000 in legal expenses but has been offered the opportunity to settle for a reduced amount of N$400,000.

If the payment is not made within 10 days, Swapo’s legal team warned in a letter sent to Shipwikineni's lawyer, Titus Ipumbu, that it will finalise the bill and request a date for taxation.

This could lead to immediate action to seize Shipwikineni’s properties to recover the amount owed.
