Cabinet has decided that Namibia should allocate five percent of the national budget to water and sanitation programmes.

This aligns with the sustainable development goal of access to water and sanitation. 

Cabinet also expressed its support to the Ministries of Agriculture, Water, and Land Reform and Urban and Rural Development to use investment opportunities available at the Africa Continental initiatives.

These initiatives are the Africa Water Programme for water supply infrastructure and the African Urban Sanitation Investment initiative at home.

The agriculture ministry is also assigned to engage states and cooperating partners on transboundary water management and cooperation.
